Stephanie Wasserman, LPC, MHSP, NCC, CCTSF

Born and raised in Knoxville, TN, I graduated from Maryville College in 2007 and completed my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2009. I am licensed as a professional counselor and certified as a Trauma Specialist through the Arizona Trauma Institute. I have worked in a variety of settings, including intensive in-home, emergency services, crisis intervention, outpatient, and equine assisted psychotherapy. I have a husband, two boys, two dogs, and a horse that keep me pretty busy. I work with a variety of clients from kids to adults. I especially love working with families because I get to see them make connections and find the ways they are already competent. I believe we are all uniquely equipped to parent our children and/or navigate life’s challenges. As a counselor I get the blessing of helping people see that for themselves. I also enjoy facilitating clinical, team building, and psychoeducational groups.  I have loved building Taking Chances Counseling, PLLC with my good friend and business partner Sheli. God has showed up in big ways throughout the journey and grown us in ways I never imagined!

Sheli Chambers, Clinical Intern, CCTSI

Born and raised in Knoxville, TN, I graduated from Liberty University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology: Addiction and Recovery Counseling and I am currently working to complete my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am married with children and several animals (including 5 dogs and 3 horses). I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist through the Arizona Trauma Institute and I am working to complete the Advanced Certification as well. I also have a certification in couples counseling through SYMBIS (Save Your Marriage Before It Starts). I have worked in a variety of settings with a variety of individuals ranging from adolescents to adults. I truly enjoy working with individuals ages 15-25 and those who identify within the LGBTQ(+) community as well as individuals who have served in our nations military.  My approach to counseling is eclectic and salutogenic in nature. I enjoy helping individuals learn to ground in their reality and become who they are designed to be while exploring their authentic self separate from society’s labels. In doing so, we will work together to explore and understand your whole self through a holistic person-centered approach to counseling.
